Well here I am, still buzzing after a slightly hectic day. It started out with me trying to get all the phone calls in and paper work done for my big return from short term disability. As I said in the previous post, my dad is stuck in California. I decided to "return" to work today/tomorrow (Friday) since I have Fri-Sun off. (Makes sense, doesn't it? I'm on the schedule, yet have scheduled days off!) That was slightly hectic. I don't know if it's just me or all of the corporate people in Minneapolis are next to impossible to get a hold of.
Eventually (around 2pm or so), I reached the right people (although I first attempted at 9am CST). The lady told me my travel benefits should be reactivated by 10pm. After that, I decided to find some ways home for my father. I ended up with 3 different travel scenarios; that way if 1 doesn't work, he has some backups. Today at 10pm, I called to see if my benefits were reactivate. They weren't. I waited an hour to see if the HR lady meant central time; still no go. Tried at midnight; still not working. I've now set my alarm for 2am, 5am, and 6:30am. Looks like I will be getting a lot of sleep tonight. 2 of the trips require my dad to board a flight that is scheduled to depart at 6:00am (CA time), so hopefully my benefits will work before that time. It's really no fun playing Family Travel Agent. Luckily, I'm getting better at it. Funny, just as I'm about to quit, I finally get it.
Besides that, my foot is feeling slightly better; hopefully by Monday it will be fully recovered. If not, I'm just going to take my best friend Advil with me wherever I go errr limp. (My advil look a lot like the one above, but mine are strawberry flavored. A juice mix packet ripped open in my suitcase next to my bottle of Advil.) A nice customer gave me 3 Vicodin yesterday, so I took one today after getting out of bed. Will work for pills. :)
I woke up early this morning and immediately fell back to sleep. I kept having one of those reoccuring dreams where I wasn't sure if I was sleeping or not. I'd dream that I was calling the leasing office of my apartments to see if my application was approved, then I'd wake up for a second, then fall back to sleep, then have the dream again. It was really weird. When I finally really woke up, I wasn't sure (at first) if I had already called or not. I called them (for real) and they said my application was approved. So, it looks like I will be moving out early October. But oh, how I will miss my Windows XP Hill. *sniff*
An exciting package (quite similar to the one above) came today. I finally got my Egg & Muffin toaster. It's absolutely amazing. I know I've written enough on it, but I found out it can also hard boil 4 eggs at a time! Anyway, I'm thrilled with it. I made 2 sandwiches today.
Later in the day, I went out to dinner with my mom, my brother, and Rich for his birthday. We went to a deli down the street from my house. It was fun - although the weather sucked. I hate walking in the rain! I had an egg salad sandwich and fries. (That's like 5 eggs for me today. I'd put a picture of an egg salad sandwich, but all the ones I found look like puke.)
I've been watching some of the hurricane news today, it's crazy. John & I were just in Houston visiting Amy & Phil. We actually were planning a trip to that Galveston (or whatever it's called) city. John was telling me how Amy & Phil were trying to get out of the city and drove 16 miles in 9 hours. That's pretty messed up. Instead, they decided to return to their house and "ride" out the storm. I hope nothing bad happens down there. I don't pray or believe in anything, but I try to think good thoughts for people, so everyone think good thoughts for Amy & Phil (and the kitties)!
Lastly, I found a cool new thing. Sick of the fees associated with 411/Directory Service calls? Well, there's a free alternative
1-800-FREE-411. The catch is that you have to listen to a 10 second advertisement before getting the phone number. I think it's a good idea - and personally, I don't mind a quick ad. Sure beats spending $2.25/call (that's how much Sprint PCS charges!)
(Oh yes, they are all this happy. Except when John calls them a 'bitch'.)
Okay, I'm going to try the stupid E-Pass number again and then goodnight everyone!
PS - Don't download the new Firefox 1.07 - it's BUGGY.
PPS - Sorry, this post wasn't written with the best grammer. I'm pretty exhausted and braindead from travel agent work.
