So here's to the new year...

I guess lots of people sort of hated 2010. It has it's black marks, but compared with 2009, noticeably better. I mean, I didn't have a job for the first half of '09, then the job I had was so demeaning that I concluded I'd rather be dead. And the friends I had, the majority were sucky, and the ones that weren't, lived out of state or only circled into my orbit infrequently. At the end of 2009, I upheaved myself from Chicago to Asheville because I wasn't quite ready to be dead. I started 2010 without a job or any local friends and ended it with 2 jobs and some of the truest friends I had been searching for. Black marks aside, much better.

2011.
High hopes for the party night. Kind of dashed. I think I wasn't the only one who's night was less than a success. Ringing in the New Year with a little bit of heart break. Nothing that isn't for the better, but it's a shame. His line, I didn't mean to. I want to be your friend. I respect you. Don't bother with an explanation. It feels cheap. I have a hard time believing anyone is that clueless, and I'm not that much of a sucker. Congrats on being 2010's biggest (& almost only) black mark. You left your lighter at my apartment & you can take back Mr. Wizard's book of science before I light it on fire with the leftover vodka.

Today. I guess alcohol is like caffeine for me. I can't sleep with a belly full of liquor, or it's fitful. I was pissy with someone at work. Do I stand over you while you do your job? I just can't stand people looming over me agitatedly. I'm helping you bus. No, breathing down my neck doesn't make move faster. I might have sneered to which I feel I got tattled on. Maybe rightfully so. I'm not above saying I was being a bitch. There's a good reason I'm not a server, I'm a little rough around the edges with social interactions. I absorb other people's agitations. It's like an annoying vibration, and it grates me like someone is shaking my insides. The rest of the night got better, but I still feel like I might sleep in fits. Is that what getting older is? An inability to sleep?
So to the new year: To writing and more creative ventures.  Maybe some here, maybe some elsewhere. This will be a good year
