Help with Tokyo Geography!

Dec 03, 2010 10:58

Hey, all!

I may be moving to Tokyo next month (from Kansai) and know NOTHING about the geography.  What wards should I start looking in for affordabe/decent housing???

My definition of affordable/decent (knowing NOTHING about living in Kanto) :
  •  6-8man/month maybe 9
  • I'm sure everywhere is w/i 10-15 minutes of a train station, right (since I don't know what stations I'll need, maybe something near Yamanote-sen is best?)....
  • AT LEAST 20m2, possibly with a loft
  • I would love a 1LDK, but I know on that budget it's basically impossible, so just a single room with kitchenette is probably fine
  • furnished (hopefully at least a fridge, a stove, and an aircon ; next a washer ; last a bedframe--I own a kickass denshi-renji)
  • If possible, less than 20 years old--older is okay if it becomes an awesome deal

Additional wishlist : not the middle of a major nightlife playground ; nice park or otherwise peaceful place nearby for taking walks ; if possible, not too much traffic at night (too much traffic : living next to a major expressway interchange) ; hopefully not offensively smelly.

I don't know how possible/impossible this is--all I know is Tokyo is huge, expensive and crowded so if anybody could help me find my way through it [mentally], I'd really appreciate it.

Basically, I need to know ward/area names so I can start searching EIBURU, APAMANSHOP, MUNIMUNI, and even LEO PALACE on my own.  If you could give them in kanji and romaji I'll give you extra virtual cookies!

Thanks in advance, everyone!!
