Tokyo New Years Eve / Accommodation

Nov 28, 2010 22:31

I posted not too long ago asking for recommendations for Tokyo hostels. The responses were great and helped a ton! Unfortunately we ran into a problem: we can't find a hostel/hotel we can afford for one of the nights we'll be there: new years eve. They appear to be all booked up.

Here's our options: We can keep looking and asking for recommendations for hostels, so if you have any more, please share. We liked the 2100 yen price per person of Khaosan and the like, but we could probably go up to 3400 per person for that one night.

OR we can book no accommodation for that night. We'll want to be out late that night, anyway. When I lived in Tokyo I used to stay out all night and catch the first train home, but I was always in bed by 7 AM. Without anywhere to go, we'd be homeless from 10 AM on the 31st to 3 PM on the 1st. Is such a thing doable or advisable in Tokyo? Living in NYC now, I wouldn't want to do that here!

Thanks!
