I periodically change the icons for my desktop folders - I have one for my research, one for my research assistant work, one for stuff-to-do, etc. I change the picture according to whimsy or finding a really suitable icon.

The library at my university currently has no air conditioning. This is bad, because it is summer, hot and muggy. The library absorbs heat like a sponge and despite temporary air recirculators and leaving the doors open (I kid you not, it is cooler outside in the 35 degree centigrade heat), it's hell ( Read more... )

I still beat my printout.

...so much for a speedy printing system.

So I was in at Melbourne Uni today, heading over to the Bailleau to do some research work when I walked through the Philosophy Department. An article on the noticeboard caught my eye.

Okay, I work as a research assistant, right? 2 days a week, I get paid the good stuff to go photocopy articles, look up references and find sources for my boss. He's a great guy and we get along well - he says he's very impressed with my work, which is also very nice to hear ( Read more... )
