My kitten wants a foam party.

Desmond's big accomplishment this week is to learn to jump onto the vanity in the bathroom. He first jumps onto the edge of the tub, then onto the closed lid of the toilet, then onto the vanity itself. He is so fascinated when I wash my hands or brush my teeth. He appears to enjoy licking at the contact-lens solution when it gets tossed down there. But his most favorite of all is right after I have washed my hands. My sink drains a little slowly, and after handwashing there is usually a nice pile of foamy suds down there around the drain. Desmond bats at it a little, then jumps in gleefully. Then he slips and slides around in the sink for a while, looking for all the world like a kid with a Slip-n-Slide. Tragedy only comes if he goes in the litter box while his paws are still damp, because then the litter sticks to him and he has to run around trilling madly until he cleans it off.

Oz has definitely had a personality change since Desmond's arrival. He actually came out and socialized a bit (there was hand sniffing!) while T. and C. were over on Wednesday night. And while he used to be kind of nervous over litter-box issues, he will now sit in there calmly taking care of business even when Desmond leaps onto the top of the box and bats at him. I'm so proud!

Today I have to run off to Davidsonville immediately after work to get to my brother's house in time to meet up with the rest of the family to head down to their church for my older nephew's Confirmation. After tonight, he will be an adult in the eyes of the Church. Meaning, as it does for so many, that he will never darken the door of a Religious Education classroom again. Tradition!
