Red scarves. I have a few, red looks close enough to black in the darkness, but shows up dramatically in the light. I'll admit there's a theatrical aspect to what I wear, because it's important to make a lasting impression in the criminal mind. Red is also a color for luck across much of Asia, where I studied extensively. I used to use a cloak with a red lining and just turn the collar up, rather than a scarf.
Crime is something I hope I'm associated with defeating, not causing, although I realize some of my methods are legally questionable. There are different kinds of crime, and some acts are morally criminal even if no one has thought to make laws against them. I try to address those, and other crimes the legal forces can't unearth or simply won't deal with, for whatever reason.
Law is useful, and necessary, but limited. I do work with the law whenever possible, and I'm not opposed to turning things over to the police when they have the means and inclination to deal with something properly. Sometimes they just need assistance gathering the right clues to put together. I don't have any agents in law enforcement, but I try to keep my eye on the detectives who seem sharper than average, and give them what they need to do their work. Cardona comes to mind, but there have been others.
Darkness is extremely useful, although having excellent night vision is a stroke of luck rather than skill. I've heard some fascinating rumours about my ability to keep hidden in darkness, but it's mostly a matter of dark clothing and moving carefully. Darkness has many psychological and mythological implications, and that's useful in my line of work as well.
Fighting is an outlet as well as a necessary skill. I try to be a little more careful now, because I seem to take longer to heal, but I still enjoy the battle.
