(no subject)
My friend's apartment was robbed yesterday. He lives in an old two story house that's been converted into two apartments, and no one was home yesterday morning. Apparently the people who did it kicked in a door to the downstairs apartment, stole some stuff from there, then went up the stairs inside, kicked out the bottom panel of the door leading into my friend's apartment, reached up through the broken part and unlocked it. They stole his XBox, all of his games, a few DVDs, and three of Adam's XBox controllers that he'd left over there.
I just don't understand how people can do things like that. He didn't have renter's insurance, so if the cops can't recover his stuff (and I doubt they'll be able to), he's pretty much screwed. He's a college student who works two jobs. He can't easily replace what was stolen. He just moved into that apartment a few weeks ago. It's not in a bad part of town. It's just isolated, off in a rural area. No one saw or heard anything.
Anyways.
I'm staying home from work today because apparently my mother passed out in the laundry room yesterday while she was home alone. She's been having a bad flare-up with her health..she's in a lot of pain and is having trouble breathing (which is why she passed out). I didn't feel that it would be right to leave her home alone today, as my dad is going to be in Indiana all day, and my sister can't be relied upon to check in on her. Luckily my paid sick and vacation days are now available for me to use, so it's no big deal for me to miss a day.
Is this week over yet? Because it really needs to be.
