Comments: this starts off dark and slow, once again strangely hypnotic. the first time I heard this song it was the lyrics that caught my attention, and it's definitely my favorite off their new album. this song is simple that they've EVOLVED, and it amazes me. Adam's voice is incredible, as is the guitar. at first I really only liked the first half of the song, because it got a little more rocky at the end and I didn't think it fit as well, but after listening to it a lot I love the song in its entirety. the whole song has this strange sense of danger, of malice throughout the whole thing, and I utterly ADORE it. once again, my descriptions suck and you should just download the freaking song.

Comments: so. you've all heard "Welcome to the Black Parade". probably "Teenagers" as well, and maybe even "House of Wolves". but this? is WITHOUT A DOUBT my favorite song off their new album. it's proof of how they, like TDG, have evolved. there's this oddly UKRAINIAN feel to the whole thing, which I think was meant to sound ITALIAN but I'm weird and it sounds Ukrainian. WHATEVER. Gerard's voice in this is just AMAZING, and the guitars and the lyrics and just...just...alsdkjfals. YEAH. it also features Liza Minelli (sp?), who is a HUGE celebrity among the music community and these guys are damned lucky she performed with them and they know it. XDD the ending is awesome, too. word of warning, though. this song is in .m4a format, meaning it'll only work in Winamp and a few types of MP3 players/iPods.

Comments: so this is one of the more MELLOW songs in this rotation, the genres chosen because I'm not entirely sure WHAT to put this under but those seemed the best. now, some of you may recognize Darren Hayes from his days as the vocalist of Savage Garden. for those of you who haven't heard of them, he has this AMAZING voice. it's not really your normal male pop voice in that his voice is light and airy instead of...well...pop-y. ANYWAY, this is one of those songs that'll wander onto my playlist and I just HAVE to go back and listen to it again. JEWEL is so PEACEFUL. this is the song I listen to if I need to calm down, or center myself, or anything like that. if I'm listening to my MP3 player hanging around with friends and this comes on? I tell them I'll be back in about five minutes, turn the volume up so I can only hear the song, and just LISTEN to it. half the time it brings me to TEARS it's so beautiful.

XD; this song? sets me into FITS with awesomeness. oddly enough it starts with this weird...thing, that's like a mixture of all sorts of various sounds thrown together. hell, there's even a DUCK. then there's piano and some faint orchestra and the guitars and then Amy singing and DAMN. the first verse was amazing, the chorus is a burst of vocals and guitars in which Amy hits the most amazing notes, but the second verse? utterly blew me away the first time I heard it. EVERYTHING about this song is perfect, the orchestra, the harmony, Amy's voice, the GUITAR ohGOD the GUITAR. I can't quite explain the feeling this song generates in me, but...I find this song strangely hopeful. I could go on FOREVER about how awesome this song is, but I won't bore you. XD;

Comments: so I've never actually even CONSIDERED uploading Goldfrapp before, and I'm not sure why because this woman is AMAZING. she has a very unique brand of electronica, often almost DISCO-Y (though not in this song), often very dreamy. thus, the case of Hairy Trees, which is a really dreamy, really pretty song with a VERY STRANGE NAME. the lyrics are...ah...raunchy, if you interpret them that way, but...this song glitters, it sounds like bubbles floating through the air...Alison's vocals are BEAUTIFUL, aptly described as "crystalline" by her website, and this song is DEFINITELY worth a download.

Comments: you guys have NO IDEA how excited I was when I heard that Loreena had a new CD out, especially after I heard this song on the radio. IT IS MY FAVORITE, without a doubt. it's one of her more Arabic-sounding pieces, which are generally my favorite because she does them SO WELL. it starts off with the deep, rich strains of an 'ud, melting into yet more 'ud but accompanied by various other instruments, including a haunting vocal drone (god, I LOVE it when she throws those in), a Turkish clarinet, and lots of others. ah, well, whatever. NEEDLESS TO SAY, it is RICH with Arabic instruments. anyway. Loreena's vocals are, as usual, breathtaking. this is one of those songs that I just HAVE to turn up if I can, because the moment I do it just sweeps me away and I ADORE IT. I also have this habit of playing it the instant I see snow, mainly because the first time I heard it was snowing and I just stood in front of the door and watched the snow fall while listening to it and it was a strangely profound experience.

I think this version is SOOOO much better. but that's just me, so whatever. *shrug* it starts off with simple but dark, haunting piano, and then Maynard's vocals? just...just...alksjfalskjfdlksdf GUH. the entire song is PERFECT, just...it's so dark and chilling and it makes me shiver and I LOVE IT. I think the dark, almost malevolent feel to the song better fits the lyrics than anything ELSE they could've done. ...and for the record? this song will FOREVER remind me of Death Note, because I made myself a Death Note layout featuring the lyrics for it.

XD; this song? sets me into FITS with awesomeness. oddly enough it starts with this weird...thing, that's like a mixture of all sorts of various sounds thrown together. hell, there's even a DUCK. then there's piano and some faint orchestra and the guitars and then Amy singing and DAMN. the first verse was amazing, the chorus is a burst of vocals and guitars in which Amy hits the most amazing notes, but the second verse? utterly blew me away the first time I heard it. EVERYTHING about this song is perfect, the orchestra, the harmony, Amy's voice, the GUITAR ohGOD the GUITAR. I can't quite explain the feeling this song generates in me, but...I find this song strangely hopeful. I could go on FOREVER about how awesome this song is, but I won't bore you. XD;

Comments: so I've never actually even CONSIDERED uploading Goldfrapp before, and I'm not sure why because this woman is AMAZING. she has a very unique brand of electronica, often almost DISCO-Y (though not in this song), often very dreamy. thus, the case of Hairy Trees, which is a really dreamy, really pretty song with a VERY STRANGE NAME. the lyrics are...ah...raunchy, if you interpret them that way, but...this song glitters, it sounds like bubbles floating through the air...Alison's vocals are BEAUTIFUL, aptly described as "crystalline" by her website, and this song is DEFINITELY worth a download.

Comments: you guys have NO IDEA how excited I was when I heard that Loreena had a new CD out, especially after I heard this song on the radio. IT IS MY FAVORITE, without a doubt. it's one of her more Arabic-sounding pieces, which are generally my favorite because she does them SO WELL. it starts off with the deep, rich strains of an 'ud, melting into yet more 'ud but accompanied by various other instruments, including a haunting vocal drone (god, I LOVE it when she throws those in), a Turkish clarinet, and lots of others. ah, well, whatever. NEEDLESS TO SAY, it is RICH with Arabic instruments. anyway. Loreena's vocals are, as usual, breathtaking. this is one of those songs that I just HAVE to turn up if I can, because the moment I do it just sweeps me away and I ADORE IT. I also have this habit of playing it the instant I see snow, mainly because the first time I heard it was snowing and I just stood in front of the door and watched the snow fall while listening to it and it was a strangely profound experience.
