Another Momentous Day, The Day Before Yesterday...

Nov 04, 2008 00:06

Sometimes, I think my life is a little weird. It has been pretty boring lately being stuck in the house for the past month due to Bloody October and my mother temporarily disabled and needs my help for some stuff. I think all that peacefulness was just build-up for what happened on Sunday Night because my life can't be boring for long. It's like it's ordained by God or something.

Me and my mother was going to Dallas BBQ or BBQ's for short. It's a pretty nice, affordable restaurant for BBQ and stuff in the city (which as pretty delish, HUEG burgers that usually takes me two meals to finish it all. We were going to get takeout and I was going to order the stuff. So I did my thing and came back to the car to wait (it was pretty noisy inside due to Football or something). When I got inside, my mother turned and told me that the car wouldn't start.  She tried a few times  and used the car manual but nothing would budge. The brakes and stick were locked.

I wasn't panicking or anything since we're in a place that there's subway service that goes via my house close by in the area, but boy I was pissed with the prospect that we could be stuck with the car for hours and it might need to be towed. Plus no one we knew didn't answer their cell phones either. I felt worse for my mother because it could've might mean that her car's engine died on her and her being on injury leave and pretty frustrated being in a leg cast, that would be a pretty fucking shitty way to end the day. So she had to call the AAA to get a tow truck while I picked up the food. Surprisingly, the guy came in like 10-15 minutes and checked the car. We found that the car's battery just ran out of juice from my mother turning off the engine but blasting the radio while she was waiting for me. The tow truck guy just gave the car a jolt in the battery and we were good to go. The guy was pretty awesome too and had a ton of good jokes and extremely helpful despite he was supposed to be off in a hour. I hope the guy gets a new tow truck since his was pretty outdated. After that though, my mother just turned off the radio for half the ride home and we LOL'd about that.

Before we ahead home, we took a short stop at Junior's for a treat. Junior's a pretty popular place with the best New York Cheesecake in town. There's only three of them in the city: the main one in Downtown Brooklyn, one in the Grand Central Terminal Concourse at  West 42nd Street and the last one in Times Square on East 45th Street between 8 Ave and Broadway. My family usually get a cheesecake pie as a "cake" on my aunt's, mother's and grandmother's birthdays. I occasionally get it too but I rather stick with some yummy Baskin Robbins' Ice Cream Cake since my birthday and my grandmother's were a little over two weeks apart and NY Cheesecake is a type of cake you want to eat but not too often. My mother got the Red Velvet Cake (which admittedly I felt bad getting for her because I remembered that their Red Velvet was blah) and I got a Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake. Despite it sounds kooky, but Pumpkin Cheesecake is very, very tasty. It was my first time eating a Junior's one since I usually buy it from Barnes and Nobles who sell Cheesecake Factory ones. That cheesecake is a seasonal dessert so it's only around a few weeks before Halloween until the beginning of spring or so. The Junior one was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I think I like it better than the Cheesecake Factory one because of the tasty cake-y crust to it made the difference to sublime. I had to stop the squee-ing over how delicious it was. Junior's cheesecakes are very dangerous in that it makes you crave for more. LOL, I sound like Kyoko and Haru from Reborn.

I like to talk about food a lot, do I?

Anyway, Election Day in America is today and I'm really supposed to sleep soon because my aunt and grandma want to go to the polls at 5:45 AM in the morning.... despite the nearest poll from my house is across the street. Convenient, eh? Might as well indulge them then crawl back to sleep because unless I'm working, being up that early is a fucking crime. I'm not a morning person although I can program myself to get up that early due to going to getting ready for school and work at 5-6 AM every morning until last year. My grandma is throwing a small party because she's so excited about it. See, my grandmother used to live in Birmingham, Alabama during the 50s. If anyone is somewhat verse in American History, you know how how bad segregation was when you're one being discriminated against. It gotten so bad that my grandmother and her family had to move to New York City in the 60s because my grandmother wanted to live somewhere where her kids to grow up without that nonsense. To see a black man on the verge of being elected President means a lot to her. Personally, while Obama being the first black President would be neat but I'm voting for him because he's less likely to fuck up the country than McCain, who shown that he's willing to sell himself out for a shot for the presidency at any cost , even to the point of choosing Palin, who is now biting him in the ass.

I can only hope that Obama wins it. If he doesn't.... well... there will be riots will be understatement of the YEAR. This is prolly the biggest election in my lifetime to be sure.

Talking about nations and stuff. I've been into Axis Powers Hetalia like whoa lately. It's a pretty cute rendition of World War 2 starring North Italy, who is a pretty worthless guy when it comes to this war stuff (the name Hetalia comes from Hetare [Useless] Italia). The series is full of charming character and you will learn something from it. No exceptions.  My favorites are America (can I be less ironic, plz?) who's so spunky, full of himself, a huge idiot and can be completely and utterly tactless. I should be insulted by him but he's so charming~♥! The other character who shares the #1 spot is Russia, who is a yandere/yangire who wants everyone to be one with him and is a stalker and an abuser who manages to be so adorable although he's huge and "big boned" (Russia's own words). But you feel sorry for the fella for what he been though. I know I shouldn't but I can't help it. Next on the order is Japan, who is just adorable beyond words. Ugh, all are adorable, even France and his molesting ways... okay, not France.

The strips tend to be so cute, hilarous, touching and/or entertaining and YOU'RE LEARNING SOMETHING FROM THIS. I'm so stoked that the anime is coming out soon. The voices are awesome so far and I can't wait for Romi Park unite with Rie Kugimiya to do a sibling pair again (this time they're voicing Switzerland and Liechtenstein respectively). Ugh, my moe level is gonna skyrocket. Here's a subtitled clip from a track on the Drama CD that went on sale at Summer Comiket this year. All the voices are going to be in the anime.

Ah, I'm so into it that I almost shipping the shit out of people like Reborn. Like Sweden/Finland (the Scandinavian Husband and Wife, although they're two guys), Germany/N.Italy, Hungary/Austria, France/Canada and America/Japan/England. ;_; I'm shipping countries, christ. I'm near desperation status to buy any sort of doujin of this series. I want to write fanfics of this series but I'm not the Gobal Studies whiz I used to be back in high school. ;_; I know it isn't necessary. But I feel like I do brush up my history because the only fics I can write is around America. LOL.

Maybe I 'll draw something, but my art is shit now. My family have been bugging about me not drawing, saying that if I really want to be a comic book artist, why am I not drawing. How can I say that what I really feel when I know they can't understand or won't understand. Plus this 4 year long art rut is killing me to the point I lost some of my skill that I have to relearn anatomy.

Nevermind that. I brought more Reborn doujinshi. Dammit. ;_; Plus Negahyst has two, TWO new doujinshi. I desperately want the 6927 one like whoa. I requested jpqueen to find it and I will buy it because I'm that big of a whore over their stuff. Hell, I'm even reading their original series, di(e)ce. *sob*

The morals of this journal are:

1) Cut your car off completely to save battery power when you're waiting for someone. Or you will be stranded otherwise.
2) Cheesecakes are nice for an occasional treat (okay, I'm bullshitting that one somewhat).
3) It's okay to ship countries if they're personified (now, I'm bullshitting this).
4) A book.manga addiction is horrible after months are not regularly buying books. And fuck me, Comiket is next month too. *sob*

LOL.

Happy Election Day. Remember to vote if you're in the US, I guess.
