Practice kind of sucked today. It was our first practice since daylight savings, and it was so dark so early that we didn't get anything done. We basically stood in a circle and passed the ball for half an hour and then left. From now on we are starting practice at 4:00, but I'm afraid we're still not going to be able to get anything done in the semi-darkness.
In happier news, it turns out that when it really counts, the athletic department pulls through. Our new athletic director is meeting with the deans tomorrow to figure out some way to manipulate the budget so that the school will pay for a bus, hotel rooms and food stipends for everyone on the team to go to nationals. And, they're throwing us a party. Yes, you read right, the administration is throwing the rugby team a party. No, they're not buying us beer. They're hosting a send off party for us in the campus center at 1:30 next Friday (our bus leaves for Boston at 2:30).
So now that the administration is paying us some attention, lets show them that the student body cares too! Please, just stop by the campus center sometime between 1:30 and 2:30 on Friday November 17th, and wish us good luck!
We're also throwing our own "Toads turn 21" party this weekend. Our team is 21 years old this year, and seeing as we're ruggers, we decided this was something worth celebrating. This is an open party, everyone is invited. Don't worry, we won't be singing any of those crazy rugby songs, or drinking out of shoes, we'll just have music and drinks and cool people. It is this Saturday, from 11:00pm-2:00 in Denbeigh living room.
