A couple of weeks ago, I got an email from Cirque Club, saying that they were offering 50% off on tickets for select shows of Wintuk, their seasonal show at the WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden. I figured, "Hey, two for the price of one!" and then convinced my dad it would be a good birthday present, so me and rikibeth went.

This show was at the Chevrolet Theater, in the same town I work in, so rikibeth picked me up after I finished work (with Dunkin Donuts sandwich in hand so I could have dinner) and we headed to the venue. With the string of concert disasters I've had in the past, I approached Warped Tour this year with some degree of trepidation. It can be great... and it can be horrible. And unfortunately, there's really no way to know which it's going to be until you're in the thick of it. Last year, for the most part, was miserable. This year was amazing.

On Friday, I got to see my favorite band play the show of a lifetime. It was the closing show of a touring cycle that has lasted nearly two years. The last leg was at smaller, more intimate venues for most of the country, but here in the northeast, we got one big show. And when I say big, I mean big. As in, they packed Madison Square Garden. Yesterday, rikibeth and I went to New York City to have lunch with ellen_kushner and to see Edward II. The show was as 2 pm and lunch was at noon, so in order to make sure that we got there on time, it meant getting up not that much later than I normally would for work. It's not as hard to get up early for something you actually want to do, though.
