I won't let you pull me down, oh no.

Notes to self:
- do not stay up until 00:33 writing stuff that makes ideas swirl in your head
- do not stay up just "until that download finishes"
- do not listen to songs on repeat that make you all excited
- drink up the tea that you made at 9pm at around 9pm, not at fucking midnight, so you don't have to go pee a billion times before falling asleep

I had the hardest time falling asleep last night, I was cold but not quite, there was cigarette smoke coming in from downstairs again, my joints were aching for some inexplicable reason. I did manage at some point around 2am, luckily.

I got up in the morning to make myself read through part of the Finance materials. And, surprise surprise, I understand some of the technicalities, like, how to calculate what. But not in context, and not if you don't give me the exact things and numbers that need to be put into the formulas, especially not if they come in the form of Excel sheets of humongous proportion. Still hate Finance, yes I do.

I miss the traditional Czech Easter yummies - we have a special "cake" that is made during Easter, and lamb-shaped cakes which are also delicious. I don't miss the other traditions, just the food. I think I will go for a walk again after lunch, the weather is starting to look lovely. (And talking about Czech food - you know what I'd love to have right now? Škubánky - it's a kind of mashed potatoes, eaten sweet with poppyseed and sugar and melted butter on top.

I should, at some point later this week, go to the post office to find out about the cheapest possible way of mailing some of my stuff back home. I looked online and it seems that the cheapest option will be sending 7kg for 30€. Though first I should maybe ask the landlady if I can borrow her scales to find out how heavy my suitcase actually will be as it is. (Very heavy, I'm afraid)

I e-mailed a bunch of people offering rooms/single-room appartments in Munich yesterday. I'm trying to find something
- furnished
- not over 450€/month
- not too far away from where I'll be working (because I don't feel like communing for two hours every day, especially if I want to get some work on my thesis/some skating done after work)
What did people do before Google Maps and similar such services, I wonder? I might end up living in the BMW dormitory, though; it would probably be the easiest. We'll see. The good thing about this is that the BMW headquarters (as well as the MINI building, where I will be working) are in the same general area as the Olympic grounds. There's a rink in there and if the website is not lying, it will stay open throughout spring and summer, and there are public sessions almost every day in the evening. (Plus early morning freestyle sessions, but I doubt I'll have time for these before work.) Yes, I am motivating myself with the skating opportunities, because god knows I'm not really looking forward to the internship and the work and writing my thesis. It's like - at least the skating will be great! And I'll be in a fun city and possibly meet some fun people. It really is so funny, because I swear the thought of moving to that ranch in Canada made me less anxious than the thought of moving to Munich. But I'll be fine, right? It's just a city. I survived Moscow (twice) and I didn't really speak proper Russian the first time I went there. I'm fluent in German, so that should simplify things a bit. Though it's Bavaria, of course, and if they start talking in their accent, I won't understand a word, anyway. ;)

God, anyway, I need to SHUT UP! Go have lunch, send some e-mails, then go for a walk before the sun disappears. In the meantime, check out my new layout. It's the same layout, but different colors and pictures. :)
