You know what?  I'm quite tired of pretending that everything's okay.  It isn't.  I'm literally falling apart from the inside out.  In the nine weeks since Tobie was born I've had the following procedures:

• Upper endoscopy (EGD)
• ERCP (endoscopic surgery)
• Echocardiogram
• Gastric Emptying Study (eating a radioactive egg)
• Head CT Scan

First, I should make very clear that radioactive eggs are disgusting.  Even if it didn't have a rotten metallic tangy taste to it, just sitting there chewing a hardboiled egg with no water to wash it down, on an empty stomach, when severe persistent nausea is already a problem, thinking about the fact that you're intentionally swallowing a ( Read more... )

I've been feeling pretty awful, as I intimated in my post the other day. High fever and abdominal pain topped the charts on the ick factors most of the week. Tuesday I was so frustrated with it, I went to my internist who was also puzzled. I have to test for ketones every morning, what with the hyperemesis and all.   Ketones, apparently, are not good for baby.  Until I started getting IV fluids with dextrose in them every day, I was spilling ketones like mad (150+).  I'm sure that contributed to my very rapid weightloss in the beginning of this pregnancy, and I'm sure having stopped ( Read more... )
