So, last night I dreamed both of being in an opera with Blake as his wife and of rushing to the birth of my divorced and remarried dad's child. I missed it, but Mom didn't. Ugh. The Medium is over. All we have to do is strike the set tomorrow.

People who had been there before said tonight was the best yet. Nancy told us that it got worlds better each night, and it was good to start with.

But this is just the beginning. This is the start of something. Who the hell knows what.

Tonight was amazing. The energy was incredible. I was terrified, but I used it. I cried. Oh, did I cry. The tempos were on, the reactions genuine, and the voices didn't sound tired. It definitely helped me to have my sister and brother in law in the audience ( Read more... )

Since Dr. Bauman is on vacation and we had to turn in all our stuff early because of it, I already know my Religions of the World, Buddhism, and Theory & Method grades. They are all exactly what I expected and needed. I did rather poorly on my Theory & Method paper, but I think a lot of the reason I had points deducted was that it was 4 pages too ( Read more... )

The director for Tales of Hoffman is really cool. He's very clear about what he wants and likes to joke around with the cast. By the end of the Friday night blocking rehearsals, he'd learned everybody's name. So, Saturday afternoon Big Mark stole one of the principles' name tags and became "Roberto, Spalazzani, tenor". Opera auditions were today. I did pretty well on my aria, though I was nervous, and did really well with the sight reading. Word had it that they were only giving sight reading to people they were considering for the opera and not for scenes.
