Granted likely to be the only post of the month...
Not much to report, work is still going well. Flatmate is still crazy. Have had a couple of car related traumas but have completed my pass plus regardless. Mother has been to visit, alas she did not stumble upon a murder to solve, much to her disappointment.
I'm in one of my periodic 'watching quite a bit of telly' phases and am quite enjoying London Spy. The first episode was beautifully made but desperately dull, the second episode was a huge improvement I thought. I'm also enjoying The Last Kingdom. What Uthred lacks in acting ability he makes up for in prettiness.
Less successful have been attempts to watch Jordskott and The Strain. I think Scandinoir is hugely overrated and is of no higher quality than the kind of crime drama ITV churns out. I gave Jordskott a go as Radio 4 said it incorporated Norse Myths. It doesn't actually, it incorporates what seems to be generic European fairy/changelling myth. Have abandoned after three episodes but it's probably enjoyable if you like Scandinoir to begin with. I had high hopes for The Strain but much like Jordskott it's not actually what I thought it was going to be. Three episodes in and it's more generic plague drama with not enough vampirism so I've abandoned that too.
Cinema wise I've been to see The Lobster and The Lady in the Van both of which were very enjoyable. I've decided to give Mockingjay Part 2 a miss on the big screen as the book annoyed me so much. I'll catch it on DVD where I can yell "FFS Katniss! Pick Gale! Do you not have eyes woman!!" in the privacy of my own living room.
