I know I haven't updated on here much lately, but that's mainly because nothing interesting enough to talk about seems to happen any more. Life has been very dull of late.
The first week in the new job was quite eventful. On five separate occasions one of the doctors has called me in to "chaperone" with a female patient. All pretty tame as he's an Orthopaedic surgeon and doesn't get to go anywhere "delicate". But on Friday morning I was there while he gave a woman some Cortisone and Marcaine injections. Now I am not in the least bit squeamish about injections - or any medical procedure for that matter - but this was pretty horrible. She had two in her neck and then one right in the joint in her shoulder and he needed to get the needle right into the tendon that fits snugly between two bones. He had the entire needle, right up to the plastic part of the syringe, in her shoulder, moving it around to find the tendon, there was blood pouring down her arm and she was screaming blue murder and just about crushing my hand which I'd offered to her after the first injections were a little painful. Not fun and I have made a mental note that if I ever suffer any orthopaedic pain I will be grinning and bearing it and not getting any shots.
There is an American doctor at the new place too, and I tend to have my ears pricked all day cus I like his accent. His name's Ivan Unpronouncable and he's quite dishy in a dishevelled sort of way.
Saturday night I went glow-bowling with the BCH gang. It was fun, especially condsidering the fact that I'd spent the hour prior to going on the phone with Bewize complaining that I didn't want to go, lol. Then yesterday I ended up going to The Boat in Catherine de Barnes to watch the England-Ecuador match in the beer garden. My throat is still a little hoarse from screaming abuse at the other team, talk about fouls and talk about a blind referee. But we won, so now we have the trauma of the quarter finals next weekend. Actually, it's going to suck if there's a miracle and England do get through to the final because that's played on the day I've arranged to go and see POTC 2 with my friend Judy and my mum.
Greebo has a bad eye and keeps it shut all the time, as of yesterday morning. I've looked at it and I can't see anything wrong with it, he just won't open it. It's a little bloodshot but there's definitely nothing in there. If he's still like it tomorrow I'll take him to the vets. More money! And anyway, I quite like having a pirate cat *grin*.
The diet that my mum told me about is great! I've lost 9lbs in the last 4 weeks! And I don't even feel deprived, I'm not really a big carbs fan so I'm not going without my favourite things much. Although tomorrow Helen and I have a date with the chippy *big grin*. I had a craving which I managed to transfer to her...
And finally, today I got to leave work at lunch time cus the leccy went out! Bonus!
Nothing much else going on. Hope everyone has a good week. Although it looks like none of our weeks have gotten off to a particularly good start.
