so last night, after spending the day with
kitfantastic79, we ended up at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square and saw the double feature of "Sita Sings The Blues" and "Azur & Asmar".
I could not be more happy with either one :) As far as largely one-person created indie animated film making goes, both are inspiring examples of what's possible. "Sita" is sad and charming, peppered with many little bright moments and few dull spots. "A&A" is a french film that I knew nothing about, but turned out to be a real visual treat; it's as close and obvious an animated homage to the illustration work of
Leo and Diane Dillon (will have to post about them another time) as you're likely to get; that was a lovely surprise! The storyline was straightforward hero's journey stuff, and/but it too was littered with lots of sublime moments.
and all done in good company :) had a wonderful day!
