Oh man, I love the baguette-overstuffed-with-salad style of sandwich. I used to have those for lunch every day. (With salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and boiled egg. And mayo.)
Oh yeah, I've experienced the "ban-mi" or however it's spelled Vietnamese sammiches. I passed on the head-cheese, but the ham and cheese was good. You can tell which countries used to be dominated by the French just by looking at their cuisine. :D
I would maul people for decent overstuffed sandwiches on good baguettes, which is why I have an hate-on for Subway, Togo's and Quizno's. Subway for having this extruded paste that gets oven-baked into pseudo-bread, Togo's for having crap mayo that makes me sick every time, and Quizno's for being pricey and not all that good. I love hoagies and heroes but they're hard to find in this town. I need to do more research.
