There's a place we pass sometimes by that always raises a bunch up like that. For some reason, I always see them as a single unit: a hand with many fingers, reaching out and waiting for someone to take its hand in theirs.
(And in December, they raise one all the way up and put a lit Christmas tree on top!)
Cherrry pickers are parked that way so they can fit more of them into a parking area. When their boom is down, they take up a *lot* more room. Controls are in the bucket and down on the ground. Plus the ground control panel has the key switch, override controls, and emergency descent controls. Is that the place over behind the new convention center?
ah, that would explain why the platforms are all at different heights. that makes more sense t'me, thanks. no this is over along dorchester avenue. just in the buffer zone of light industry between boston and its grubby little blue collar "suburb".
I think Artemis' handlebars are on backwards and upside down. LOVE that sodium vapor light. Man, I think that's my favorite lighting condition. It's always more yellow than I remember, but I want to paint even more with it. Lovely pictures. Glad to see you have a camera again!

The controls for them are in the bucket. Without a key, they're a bit harder to steal.

2. Anybody who really does want to steal one, could just climb up there and work the controls, ya?
Makes for a nice visual though. Like they're watching the night sky for the signal to return home.

2. Yeah, but that's WORK.
