Not a lot of time to update tonight. Left campus at 6 after spending an hour in the lab redoing the lab from last week. After consulting with a few of my colleagues who were working on the lab report, we all came across the same interesting error in all of our labs. So we confronted the TA, who really knows his shit it seems, and he was perplexed too. So we stayed around and he redid everything quickly and we discovered that the data that the experiment gave us was different than what we thought we were getting. So, to make a long story short, only myself and two other people out of 40 even know how to accurately write this report. Now...here is my question; knowing this, the day before the lab report is due, shouldn't I be one of three people who even gets close to a good grade on this assignment? To me it seems that since no one else knows what the hell they are dealing with they should null and void that part of the assignment. But no, my intuition tells me that those who don't know will turn in their report and not getting penalized heavily for it, while now I am required to add another large section tonight to compensate and explain the change in results. If I don't, the TA knows I just was lazy and grades me down. Of course I'm gonna do it anyway, but it just doesn't seem fair. But I guess the positive effects are that we showed the initiative in the first place to question the lab and ask the guy about it. And that is definitely worth something since he is grading the reports.
Other than that things are good. 310 test tomorrow which really blows because no one knows what to study. Powerpoint should seriously be banned in the classroom. Hell, even Microsoft banned it in it's meetings because nothing was happening. I can read a fucking slide just as well as the next guy, so I don't need someone reading it to me in class. Kinda don't retain much. Nevertheless I gotta study for it somehow...and then do the 344 homework. Oh yeah..and finish the lab report. I did eat a good dinner of pizza rolls. I almost whipped out the shrimp and had a nice dinner, but I changed my mind last minute. Felt like a junk food day. So other than that today I got a reply from Patrick Williams at FOMOCO. H offered his advice and grace and boy does he move me. Maybe just because he was the first "industry" professional I ever knew but I really respect him. He offered to flex his networking muscles if in the future it could be of assistance to me. Apparently he knows a few friends at the new Toyota truck plant in texas, and the Mercedes-Benx plant in Tuscaloosa...and I know a manager at the Hyundai plant in Huntsville...or wherever it is. But those are too far away for now, which is why I'm pumped about my interview coming up with Marathon Ashland...you know...the gas guys. They are hiring in Cinci, which is really not too far away, and they are supposed to pay really well which is a plus. But not the only factor. My main factor knows who she is ;-) and for that I'm trying to stay close. Of course once we both graduate I'm going wherever we want to go because I would love to move around and live different places. I'll leave with that so I can start writing. P.S....who knew that the Smuckers corporation needed engineers in Lexington. Apparently they get to help keep the JIF peanut butter factory running. Wonder if that's creamy or crunchy?
