So as usual I can never think of catchy titles for these updates, and since it's been so freakin long I am out of ideas. So I'll just sum things up. I just finished a nice dinner of barbeque chicken and cream corn. Thanks for the barbeque sauce Kyle...I used a tiny smidgen of it. Today as a whole was good. Got up at 11:30 because my only class was canceled. Some Nano Conference is in town so most of the grad students were at that while I was sleeping in. I actually didn't sleep in until then, I woke up at 8 and slept on and off until 11:30 and boy was it wonderful. I stayed up late last night watching Gladiator and then mumbling with Kyle because I was half asleep, and it felt good to sleep in. Then I went in to campus and was in the lab until 3. Good my lab report figured out (don't believe any one else in my section has started it yet) and finished some much dreaded homework. It's amazing the difference a few minds can make. I studied with Matt as usual, and what completely escaped me was caught by him so that was nice. Now I'm at home and about to start some Eco, then some Control Systems, and then if I have any time left after that I'll either finish off my lab report or I'll start the Mechanical Design homework. So much fun this homework. Oh, and for those of you who aren't in Lexington and who didn't read the small article in the Courier, there was a nice shooting near my apartment last Wednesday night. I recall seeing cops driving around the parking lot but they do that a lot because like 5 cops live here (they must not be paying cops enough in this town) but turns out they were looking for the 3 guys who shot this girl right out front. So again I am happy to be moving in October and although I'm not looking forward to the hassle of it I am looking forward to having a quiet place to study in and a Mexican free environment with which to enjoy myself. Maybe even invite people over...believe it or not.
The other thing I am looking forward to is getting my ass a job. I know I'm enrolled in grad school and it would be dumb to just give that up, but my plan is to get a nice job somewhere around this area. Because of Katherine and an upcoming wedding I wouldn't accept anything far away, but Louisville and of course Lexington are options as well as outward lying areas of this region. Possibly as far as Cinci, but I only say that because I have applied to several places up there. And then, while pulling down the big bucks (cross your fingers) I'll be able to take night classes or even day classes and finish off a masters degree with classes only. I'm out of school, making money and saving for said expenses coming up next year. To me it sounds like a winning idea and it beats the heck out of any deal I would get from the university unless I commit to the doctoral route and am then eligible for grants. So please give me your ten cents worth and until then I'll just keep applying to different companies and seeing what kind of positions I can find. Until next time I'm off to do more work.
