Rent!
The roomie and I went to see Rent today. It stared the two original actors who played Mark and Roger on Broadway and in the movie. This was the third or fourth time I have seen the show. I told the roomie it would be the last time I saw it and that the only reason I was going was because she had never seen it before.
Well…I would see it again. I forgot how much I love the music, dancing, and the energy of the cast. There is just something about seeing Rent on the stage that is just awesome. I thought the movie was good but I have never seen a movie that has been better than the Broadway show. The one thing that threw me off was the character of Maureen. She had blonde hair! I had always seen her played as a brunette and the blonde hair threw me off for bit. The actors who played Mark and Roger were spot on (as they should be) and I loved the character of Mimi. The one song I could have done without was the song “Take Me or Leave Me” sung by Maureen and her girlfriend Joanne. It was lacking that spark and energy that I thought it should have. Overall the show as great and I would see it again.
After the show we headed to Pike Place Market where we ate fish and chips. They were really good but what I enjoyed the most was the view of the water and the sailboats!
