A couple of days ago I drove to Pennsylvania to visit my mom. But there were predictions of enough snow that if I didn't leave on Wednesday, I might not be able to make it home till Sunday. Seventy mph winds accompanied by a nearly black sky and heavy rain took out the big tree outside the dining room this afternoon (the temperature dropped 30 degrees!). Tonight I printed out my LJ entries for the last year or so. It's a paranoid thing I do to make sure I always have a record of my journal, the diary-like entries in particular. A friend posted that he has discovered he has 1604 books, thanks to a cataloging program called LibraryThing. I keep track of what books I've read in a little notebook, which I periodically transcribe into a spreadsheet. (Almost 3000 books read since 1972, when I started recording them.)
