I don't know how all of this is going to happen in between my regular work and life stuff, but happen it will. The sad thing is that I know I'm forgetting at least three items that should be on this list...

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single computer not functioning properly, must be in want of another person to stare at it and say something completely obvious such as, "It's unplugged," or "Let's just turn the monitor on and see what happens," before it will work.

I've been on both sides of this one this week.

The Players:

• The Librarian, a helpful, knowledgeable sort
• The Student, searching for an article, polite and appreciative

The Setting:
The reference desk, floating like a slightly-too-imposing island in the middle of the first floor library stacks, and the printers, about which the less said the better.

My library unit has instituted a new "no strong smells in the workplace" policy designed to make the workplace more friendly for people who don't like strong smells. It's a good policy, on the whole. I want to support it.

My annual review is due in a few weeks. Can I just say how much I don't want to review 2008?

I figure I can put off thinking about it till next week, and the relief of this plan is making me wonder if procrastination is sometimes a sanity-saving device and not just a really bad habit...

Saw my doctor today and am now cleared for physical activity of all sorts. Read into that what you will.

I should also know within the week if I'm anemic, and (bonus) I got my flu vaccine.

Autumn continues to be lovely here, and I'm looking forward to walking to and from work. The work part of work probably won't be so bad, either.

Classes were canceled at WSU today, due to extreme weather (snow, snow, snow). This is the first time classes have been canceled here since Mt. St. Helen's blew her top.
