This semester is proof that I am crazy, and also that I am studiously avoiding having to go be a grown-up and do things like get a job. In addition to trying to wrap up the requirements to finish both my degrees, I'm directing three One-Act plays this semster: one at SFSU and two back at LPC, because I am still queen of my JC's theater department and can get away with just about anything there. I'm also acting in a One-Act out at SFSU because one of the other directors in the theater festival I'm directing for out there lost an actor, and I'm both excited and freaked out because it's been over a year since I technically performed in anything.
Out at SFSU we're putting on what we call the One-Act Fringe, which is when students from the theater department direct one act plays, mostly culled from the playwriting department. The productions are basically one step up from staged readings, but they're one of the coolest things that the department does. The one I'm directing is written by a guy I already know I like to harrass, which is great, and it's essentially two British Victorian gentlemen in an aubsurdist scenario fighting a duel. And we cast two women, to make it that much more absurd.
Over at LPC, in the meanwhile, I'm directing The Ugly Duckling by A.A. Milne for the first half of the semester, and for the second half I will probably direct something I wrote. Right now, I'm working on a modern setting of "The Rape of Properina" myth, but depending on what I finish/how I feel, I might adapt a short story instead. I really want to do an adaptation, possibly in a Word-for-Word style, of Neil Gaiman's "Harlequin Valentine", but that's also still in progress.
And the number of times I'm correcting typos is increasing, so I'm going to bed now. G'night and such.
