It's a game of mousetrap

Jan 07, 2011 09:03

so unbeknown to me, my office has had a few mouse sightings in the past month. Maybe it's the new cubes, maybe it's just the reconstruction of other parts of our office building opening up gaps in the wall somewhere, who knows. but yes it all became personally relevant to me, when I went to open my snack/spare pen/electrical tape drawer and found

(a) someone had been indulging in my box of granola bars since I last checked and
(b) they'd overindulged to the point of attaining Mouse-Rapture. (or is it mouse-nirvana?)

the spirit was willing, but the flesh was apparently weak. His fresh earthly remains were startlingly present on top of the roll of electrical tape I was reaching for.

Me: ...WTF Mouse.
Coworker: Really?

excitement ensues since we're _all_ engineers, which means we _all_ have granola bars in our desks somewhere. No further mouse martyrs were found, but the guy running the informal 'vending machine' at the office has decided to take some of his ill gotten profits, and invest in mouse traps (to protect his goods).

I look up from my paperwork this morning, to see him baiting mousetraps... with fragments of Snickers bars.

(now the office is debating which candy treat is the most mouse-worthy)

It's going to be one of _those_ Fridays.
