19? When'd that happen?

Jul 19, 2005 00:19

I feel like these past three or so years got sucked into a black hole - I do not feel 19... neither as old nor as young as the number implies. But then, I suppose there's nothing wrong with a bit of healthy imbalance... ;)

Thanks so much to all of you who tossed b-day wishes my way this July morning, noon and eve - it always amazes me that so many people can remember my birthday when it catches me off-guard every time, without fail.

It's funny, I always thought I'd have accomplished something "big" by now. What, I don't know. Published a book? Bought a Corvette? (Aside: I mentioned to my brother that I only ever see old people driving Corvettes, and am therefore determined to buy one before I'm 25. Ha.)

But now that I've gotten here, I'm restless for far different reasons. The things that fulfill me are inscrutable and elusive, and I realize I should spend more time seeking them, rather than waiting for them to hit me like an anvil - occasions few and far between lately. Seek, and ye shall find, yes? It's the searching that's important - it's the stagnance that's dangerous, and despite all I have done this past year, I feel I really let that take root... and I'm determined to work against it.

What the snap was that? *eyes random psuedo-introspection*

Anyway. My day itself was fantastic! I had planned on going to Universal with a few friends (since we have loads of tickets and discounts to use up) but that didn't pan out, so it ended up being a very laid-back day with the fam, where I was bombarded with good food and various happy stuffs, including MY KEYBOARD. O DEAR GOSH. It is beautiful and I am going to marry it.

Also got a $25 Best Buy giftcard from my gma, and I'll give you three guesses as to what that's going towards tomorrow. Hint: his first name is John. ;P
