Four and counting . . .

Jul 26, 2006 23:03

Today is Gillian's birthday. Hooray, my beautiful girl is four! We did lunch and shopping today, but the real celebrations took place over the weekend. Saturday was her first trip to the Rennaisance Faire, where she became a lady of the court, got knighted, did a ribbon dance on stage, talked to fairies and a man on stilts, and rode an elephant. She and her cousin had to be dragged away after six hours. Sunday, we went to see Seussical at the Shakespeare Theatre in Navy Pier, along with several other cousins and her godmother. Afterwards, the kids played in the fountain/mini water park in front of Navy Pier. Then we rode the 13-story Ferris wheel, the beauty of Chicago spreading 360 degrees around us. Finally, a carousel ride. All in all, a fine way to commemorate another year.

(Confidential to Mick: happy b-day to you too, you old tart. Don't die before I get to see you in concert again.)
