State of the Shape

Jun 08, 2010 08:31

I've been doing well with my exercising lately. Now when I run, my legs get tired before I get winded, which is a good change from the opposite. I am able to push for more where before I had to stop. I just increased my run times, too.

I have a goal of being able to run a mile. I think the last time I could do that was in high school, or possibly college. I hate running, and so even when I've been in very good shape -- been able to walk for miles or row for an hour -- I haven't been able to run very far. But walking/running seems to be the one exercise I can predictably make myself go out and do these days, and the price is right. I alternate walking and running, and I am slowly bringing up the run times until I get to a mile. I have no desire to go beyond that.

I'm trying to convince myself that I want to walk up The Hill today. Those of you who have been here will remember it as the hill with the big white Mormon temple at the top. Florida is mostly flat as a strap, but in areas where there were coral reefs, there are now hills, and this one is a doozy. There must be a lot of atolls around here.
