As the title says... The winds picked up just after Midnight, but they didn't really intensify until later. I woke up at 5am from the howling of the wind (and the need to pee.) At that time, I could still see out the window; 45 minutes later, the winds are stronger, I can't get back to sleep, and all of the windows are covered in snow. ( Read more... )

    It is now 6:16am; I've been awake since 4am, listening to the wind screaming outside.  I looked outside at around 5am, and while the wind was howling, there was no snow mixed with it yet so I was able to see quite clearly.  That is not the case any longer however: Looking out of the kitchen windows, the highway is no longer visible and we can ( Read more... )

The problem with going to bed at 8:30pm because you're exhausted, is that you wake up at 2am because you've had the six hours of sleep that your body is accustomed to. The wind howling outside and having to pee didn't help either....

Well, so far the predicted blizzard has failed to show up. There's a light dusting of snow, but the heavy snow and high winds that were predicted haven't shown up around here. Not yet, anyway...

   Today was a much better day than yesterday.  There had actually been a blizzard warning in effect for the area (no kidding...) and it was supposed to lift by morning.  For once they got it right, and when we got up this morning the skies were clear, and there was barely any breeze at all.  Quite a difference from 12 hours prior, with blinding ( Read more... )
