Alright, my tricks aren't working, so I'm looking for help here.
I bought a Dominus Dressage saddle (known now as Amerigo) a couple months ago online, and when I got it the leather was pretty dry and stiff. It was excessively shiny, but not in a worn way... more in a never-been-oiled kind of way. So I've spent the months I've had it oiling it a TON, conditioning it once a month or so, cleaning it pretty much every time I ride. The leather will look great after I clean it and looks that way for about one ride, and then it just looks like crap again.
What should I do?? Its almost like it cant absorb the oil, and the conditioner seems to sit on top of it, but the leather isn't supple and lovely like my Deavocoux saddle is and I'm not really doing anything different. I'm reasonably certain that Dominus uses high quality leather, partly because I've seen others that are lovely, and I have also seen Amerigos that feel like butter.
Anyone have and leather tricks up their sleeve?
