Bee stings!

Jul 29, 2011 11:32

Hello all,

I recently moved my horse to a new barn (one I was at previously). I put my horse out in a paddock that hadn't been used in a few weeks, thought nothing of it, left, came back around noon, and found my poor pony covered in bee stings around her neck and chin! The poor girl got attacked. The nest has, of course, been taken care of, but my horse has really itchy stings all over her neck. She's been scratching them on her stall and they are pretty raw looking. Unfortunately, my car was in the shop so I didn't realize how nasty they were since I couldn't get to the barn for 2 days.

My question is - what can I do to help her be less itchy and heal the areas where she's been scratching? Is cortizone ok to use on horses? Any other remedies you know of? I appreciate any advice!

Isn't she lovely? :)
