So.  I have an old car.  It goes through a lot of oil, and it's an automatic, so I bought slightly-better-than-usual oil for it.  Having emptied two litres into the sump over the course of two months, I went to buy another bottle.

And discovered I've been putting diesel oil in my petrol car.

Yes, before you ask, it does say "Diesel" on it in big

*g* I think the reason most old cars become old cars is because they can survive most anything. I suspect my Toyota would have run on Listerine or Lysol (albeit rather briefly) instead of petrol had I been in a pinch.

Erm, but mostly I just wanted an excuse to pull out this icon. :)

I think you might be right. Not that I'm going to be using Listerine anytime soon... ;)

Me either. Well, obviously...

How could the engine know, anyway? As long as it's gloopy, and it goes where it needs to, surely gloop is gloop.

(This may be why I'm not a mechanic.)
