So....I got my PhD!

My doctoral defense was yesterday. It was incredibly stressful right up until it started, then it was fine. (I think the beginning really put me at ease...you can tell things will go well when your thesis committee starts off by arguing over which of the Avengers they would be. XD)

Holy crap, I just realized I kind of love grad school. o.O I was thinking about career stuff, and how it'll be hard to find a job that lets me do all of the things I like doing -- build stuff, write programs, do analytical calculations, design systems, write papers, teach, work with students in lab, lead discussion panels on science fiction, bike ( Read more... )

My scientific endeavours are going well at the moment, though I've hit a bit of a pause. Paper #1 just came out (in the #2 high impact journal in my area), Paper #2 was accepted (in the #1 high impact journal in my area) with minor optional revisions that took fifteen minutes to complete, and I'm second author on a paper currently making its way ( Read more... )

Today was the uni's annual activities fair. As usual, I signed up for about eight billion things. I'm going to see how it goes, but in undergrad I was happiest when I was doing 3 kinds of dance as well as martial arts, two choirs, and the TV station.
