Review:
This little fic is dark, but it is also hauntingly beautiful in its bleak darkness. The Hunger Games trilogy paints the world of a dystopian world and there is more than enough room even with how some of these broken people surviving in it, find a mostly happy ending.
At no point does the canon pretend that the healing comes easy though, and this alternate take on what might happen after the end instead of the epilog is a chilling look at what might happen, when there is no smooth healing.
I really don’t want to spoil more about the premise than the summary does, because the fic is playing with revealing information about the character’s circumstances step by step to keep the tension up and build towards some of the horror in the revelation. The slow reveal of all the pieces of the puzzle is part of why this fic packs such an incredible punch, and it’s written incredible well with working in a lot of interesting and evocative and scary imagery and metaphors.
But heed the warnings. They are no joke.
