Allergy Test Play-By-Play

Arrived on-time at 9:30 AM and ended up waiting for 45-minutes to see the Allergist - Dr. Vielhaber.

The nurse scratched my back with 12 different types of allergens and within 1 minute of her starting, two spots really started to become red and irritated and itch! Turns out I am quite allergic to dust mites and cats! They immediately stopped the test on those two and by the end of the wait-time on the test, I was also slightly allergic to some other allergens. Although my reaction is mild for the nose and eyes, she suspects that the overall effect it's causing is my sensitive skin and atopic dermatitis. But she cannot be sure until longer observation.

They gave me some allergy medication and I progressively felt less itchy. But when Dr. Vielhaber talked about all of the stuff I would have to do to make the house dust-mite-unfriendly I had a different *ugh* feeling - new mite-resistant bed covers, pillows, need to wash current bedding in hot (above 130-degrees) water every 2 weeks or minimum monthly, amongst other things, take allergy medication daily, blah blah blah. :o(

Well, it's sorta good to now know what potential causes my skin condition and congestion of sinuses in the morning but should I next break out in rashes again, I have a point of reference to talk to and "investigate" with. I hope Naia doesn't have the same experience I do as she has been showing signs of eczema since birth. It's clearing up alot now in the summer but she still has itchy red spots on her that she scratches. Dr Vielhaber says to bring her in when she hits peak so she can take a look. I hope they do not do the allergy test on her! It's not painful but boy is it annoying!
