I didn't drink last night...

...so where the fuck did this hangover come from? *boggle*

In other news...actually, there IS no other news; I guess I could talk about how I did rather well at pool last night. *pshrug*

Well, okay, I had a really good chat with rosebranch at the Merc. There are a few things that have been on my mind and we got to talking about a related subject that naturally segued into 'em, so...
Well, that was really good, kinna cathartic; thanks for that, my friend. :)

Here'z an interesting thought: is my generation growing up more slowly than previous ones? Or is it just a perception thing?
I mean, when I was a kid, my parents seemed like ADULTS™. There was no doubt; they were grown up. And all of their friends seemed that way, too; just about every adult I knew with maybe two or three exceptions seemed that way.
...yet in my generation, those proportions seem reversed. Like, yeah, people hold down jobs, have kids, buy houses, but...well, they seem more willing to play than my parents did, and less eager to regard fiction or games as "kid stuff".
Like...I can't imagine my parents having gone to see Superman III for anybody's benefit but mine back in the day. But today, people my age--even older than my parents were then--quite happily go see movies like Watchmen, X-Men, and Iron Man. Just as examples.
Are we--my generation--just more free than my parents, with a less restrictive view of what makes a person an adult than previous generations? Or are we just maturing slower? Or is there even a difference?
If anybody has an answer to that one, I'd love to hear it...though I'd really intended this as a Moment of Zen™. It's been on my mind for a while, and I felt it was time to articulate it. Not that I'd intended to when I started this entry, but it needed padding... ;)
