I'm angry how this tragedy has been manipulated to cynical, political, destructive, ends. It makes me feel helpless, unmoored, and small.

The rain started gently enough, but by midnight had become a thunderous roar, blowing in through the windows and swamping drivers by the side of the road. There was something beautiful and wild in listening to it as we lay curled in bed.
