So, the last entry was pretty much all good things. This one, not so much.
Yesterday was kind of a shit day. Daichi's birthday, and while his absence isn't as difficult to deal with as it was for most of 2011, it still hits me (surprisingly) hard sometimes.
On top of that, we had our school dress rehearsal for our Christmas Concert. And somehow my class' costumes have changed from what we discussed and decided on, and now the girls are supposed to wear tube tops with their skirts instead of the white camisole we requested. This, in my opinion, falls rather firmly into the NOT OK category. Pretty sure it falls into that category with Head Office, too. But my partners and manager seem to be of the opinion that while something needs to be done about this, we can't ask the moms to get a white t-shirt or something because (a) they were told that this was ok, and (b) it's too late to change it.
So I was already feeling like crying because my kids look bad, and I feel bad as a teacher having them up there like that, and.... yeah. Anyway. After naptime I noticed one of my boys was walking funny, dragging one leg behind him and not putting any weight on it. So we took a look at it, and his knee was swollen up A LOT.
COMMENCE FREAKING THE FUCK OUT.
We called up his mom, and she was all "oh, he said it hurt in the morning" and we strongly recommended that she come get him right now and take him to the hospital. She said she'd come in 30 minutes. She showed up almost two hours later. Meanwhile, MY POOR BABY is scared 'cause everyone is in a fuss about him, and he keeps saying that his knee hurts (and pointing to the inside of it, which makes me immediately think OH SHIT LIGAMENTS) and I'm sitting with him the whole time reading storybooks and keeping an eye on him.
After work I met up with Laura because we were going to Costco for Thanksgiving supplies, and I ended up crying while telling her about it all while we were on the train.
All told, a rather miserable day.
