noodles and stir fry

Mar 07, 2007 13:42

marinade veggie beef slices (or tofu or quorn etc)in a bit of whisky, (ensuring that own glass is full enough beforehand)salt, pepper, chinese 5 spice, veggie worcester sauce, ketchup and tabasco to taste.

Lightly fry till crispy in a big wok. Add any of the following:
chopped mushrooms, chopped cashew nuts, green beans, baby sweetcorn
peas, corn, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts,

stir in grated carrot, swede and/or sweet potato

add more pepper/tabasco/that nice chilli salt that Lidl sells to taste

about 4 mins from when ready(ok then, when you realise its ready and then stick the noodles on, lets face it, its not going to be ruined by 4 mins extra cooking now is it?), boil up noodles and add 'em to the wok, stir it all round a bit and chuck in bowls, leaving beloved to clean up mess on strength of fabulous food made. Hopefully there will be enough for tomorrow so i don't have to make lunches.

serve with home made foccacia bread - dough made in bread machine (once bread machine is thoroughly oiled to stop it squeaking so loudly that it's upsetting the squeakskins from the other side of the house)and topped with:

strain juice out of tinned tomatoes, chop up a couple of tinned tomatoes, stir in garlic puree (best if you use the tin itself so as not to create any more washing up) chuck on top of dough - did i mention to preheat the oven? no? oh well it won't rise then will it? sprinkle with cheese and bung in a preheated oved till done. Which will be when its done and will depend on how doughy you like your bread and when it looks done. This is subjective. Just because I like my bread soft and it tastes of yeast, does not mean it is underdone. Oh no.
