Why does the combination of BSG and politicized (white) hip-hop result in such a perfect vidding marriage? kiki_miserychic says that "the Flobots are the voice of BSG" and this may well be true. At least four vids out of one album and all of them are really good.

What is it about BSG that results in it giving birth to more fantastic fanvids than any other show I've seen? Some combination of great color-saturated visuals, kinetic action, big themes, symbolism and (for me at least) a copious supply of interesting female characters. aycheb just recced Jolene by nicole_anell and I'd like to second the recommendation. It's about Cally, one of the forgotten characters of BSG. It uses a great song. And it builds and builds in a way that's intense but never heavy-handed, getting deeper and more meaningful as it goes along.
