Thank you, Craig, for the appropriate facial expression

You know what I'm studying right now? The male reproductive system. Yep. JOY. What's worse than the diagrams are the pictures of the male genital diseases. I'm not going to get into descriptions, but... yeah. Totally not my favorite thing to deal with.

I do find it funny that the previous chapter on the female reproductive system was a total of 65 pages. The male chapter is only 20. AHAHAHAHA. The thing that men are generally the most proud of isn't worth more than 10 total pages of description (the rest is review and exercises).

Needless to say, I'm procrastinating like crazy before dealing with this.

The other big news of the week: Sis just got back from a trip to the west coast. She'd been planning for almost a year to go to a psychiatric conference in Monterey, CA. The two men whose research and treatment modalities literally saved her life, plus the two owners of the residential treatment center that did most of the work in diagnosing and treating her, were going to be speaking. However, it seemed like she wasn't going to be able to make it as of last Tuesday. She was counting on her financial aid from school to pay for the tickets and hotel, but it was delayed. She was so disappointed last Tuesday. Then, Wednesday morning the funds showed up in her account. She was able to buy tickets to fly to San Francisco and back (at an extreme cost, of course) and left Thursday afternoon. She ended up flying from Houston to Atlanta and THEN from Atlanta to San Francisco. Yeah, weird. She was lucky and had two friends who live in the central California region that drove her everywhere and helped pay for her hotel room in Monterey. She ended up not only hearing the main speaker she went to see, but she ate lunch with him and everyone she actually wanted to see. She called me and said, "I got to see him chew spinach!" She definitely had her superstar moment meeting him.

She left San Francisco at 10:30pm on Monday night. She arrived at 6:00am in Atlanta and was supposed to leave at 7:30 for a flight that landed in Houston at 8:30am (gotta love the ridiculous time changes). However, there ended up being a MASSIVE screw up on the part of Delta. Their computer system at Atlanta went down completely as the plane was about to board. Basically, the computer system that weighs all of the baggage went down, which meant that they couldn't load the plane properly balanced and they couldn't properly calculate how much fuel to put on board. This is a huge safety problem, obviously. The delay turned into 6 hours of waiting on the ground in Atlanta. I left at 7:30 from the house so I'd make it to the airport right at about 8:30. However, halfway to the airport which is fully across the city, Sis texted me that she hadn't even boarded yet. So I stopped in the center of town at a random McDonalds so I could wait out the hour-ish I figured the delay would be. At 9am, the plane STILL hadn't boarded and was now not expected until about 12:30. I talked to Mom, and we decided that it'd be better if I just came home to wait until she was actually in the air before driving back down. Her plane FINALLY arrived at 1:15pm. I was going to park and help Sis with getting her bag from the baggage claim, but all the parking lots were full. She was able to lug the bag out of the airport and into the pick-up area. However, the transport people were screaming at me that I needed to circle since she wasn't standing RIGHT THERE RIGHT THIS MINUTE. I started yelling back that she was RIGHT THERE IN ONE SECOND OMG. There was no way I was going to make her wait while I did the ten minute circle back around the entire airport. Thankfully, she was able to see me and I was able to get the whistling lady to let me park long enough to throw Sis' luggage in the trunk (our car doesn't have a trunk release in the car, so you have to take the keys out of the ignition to unlock the trunk).

The best part? Delta BROKE the wheel off the bag. Sis is filling out the insurance form saying that it was broken by the baggage handlers, but I'm not very convinced that anything will come of it. And the compensation for the ridiculous delay? They gave Sis a voucher for a free $6 in-flight meal. Seriously lame. *eyeroll*

At least she's home and in one piece (though achy like mad). Oh, and she showed up with a new tattoo. I was rather surprised. She went to Austin several years ago and came home with a 1/2" blue rose on her left forearm. Now she has a fleur-de-lis on her upper left chest. She was going to get the Miraculous Medal symbol
(which is attributed to the Virgin Mary), but the tattoo artist couldn't get the hearts that small, which would have meant that the tattoo would have been HUGE. So she got the fleur-de-lis instead, which is also considered a symbol of Mary. It's pretty, but still rather shocking. She's decided that she'll now get a tattoo to remember every trip she goes on. Thankfully, she doesn't travel much, but I'm now afraid that she'll end up with tattoos everywhere by the time she's 50.

And Fluffy is thrilled that Sis is back. She made it clear the whole time that Sis was away that she was slumming it by being petted by me. I just wasn't the same. She'd come in, cuddle and let me pet her for about 15 minutes before deciding that she wanted to go back into her room. Condescending cat.

OH! One final thing about my class: my first test! I made a 97. YEP. Since it's 20% of my grade, I'm now definitely carrying an A, since all of my homework and quizzes are also 99-100s.  WOOOOOO!!!

money problems, pain, trip, school, sis, fluffy, hell yes, productivity
