...at least MONDAY. Yes, MONDAY. The plumber was supposed to come back in 45 minutes and so we made a mad dash cleaning the cat bathroom and the other bathrooms, and rearranging cats so it didn't appear like we have 10 cats in the house. We then got a call from Richard telling us that it would be at least Monday before the plumber could come back, and that it will be a "major" repair.
At least even HE didn't think the water softener was connected to the house, so it will be impossible for us to be blamed for this. That's at least one tiny good thing.
The bad is this: we have to clean out all the cabinets he has to get to. He will have to fix the water softener first, then clean out all the traps and aerators on the faucets, and THEN flush out all the lines to get rid of the gunk. MAJOR FIX.
Mom is about to have a heart attack/stroke over this. I've asked her to try and calm down as much as possible, because I don't want to have to try to do this just me and Sis while we're concerned about Mom's life in the hospital.
I almost had a full-on break down a little bit ago. The kittens were driving me so bonkers and stressing me out so bad by growling, clawing everything, and climbing on all of my furniture and trying to break all of my valuables, that I was to the point of screaming at them. We decided to put them back in the bathroom with Bandit and Elise for the time being. Literally, I was sitting on the stairs trying not to hyperventilate and cry and start having a full-on panic attack. Those tend to land me in the psych ER, and that's the last thing we need. So I'm now up in my room. I'm going to watch stupid TV tonight, read my new book - Fall of Giants by Ken Follett (of The Pillars of the Earth fame) - and try to not think of how horrible and shitty this next little while will be.
Oh, another bad bit? We can't drink the water (and neither can any of the cats), nor can we take a shower or flush a toilet, since all of them are blocked by the goop. We just have to pray that we can keep using the faucet in mom's bathroom to fill the bowl we're using to transport water to the toilet tank so we can flush.
Seriously, Pray for us. All good thoughts and well wishes sent our way are greatly needed and greatly appreciated.
