(no subject)
you can always tell when someone is trying to sound smart because they throw in "big words" randomly that are either misplaced or immediately followed with a statement that goes something like this - "ooo, big word there. ha ha."
i like to throw in random, unimportant words that really aren't an example of my not-so-large word repetoir (or whatever), but are more of an example of my personality and who i am and what i represent.
isn't that funny? using words that don't try to impress, but in their own small, simple, insignificant way, impress more than an entire thesis.
so i have to "write" a research paper which will really just be a slightly edited paper on civil rights that i wrote last year. i asked the teacher about it, and he said he didn't really care if it fit the criteria (it's for an outside contest), and i'm not interested in winning or placing in the contest, so i'm just turning it in. if he complains, i'll just add or subtract a paragraph or two. funny how doing that makes the teachers happy. i guess just the fact that i get it in on time and actually make some sort of change is a big improvement over those other kids.
oh, and i did something really intelligent today. i checked for orientation registration at uofl and saw that they'd posted registration. so i go to register (by the way, i'd checked a couple weeks ago and there wasn't anything), and what do i find? everything except for late registration is closed. what's that? the entire thing filled up in 2 weeks? i have to take the remedial courses now? i have no honors classes?
so after a good cry and two lectures from my parents, i checked back again. and i actually read it. and on ULink, it says "Fall 2004 Registration." so i think, "wait... 2004?" and then i look at this little orientation postcard they'd sent me last month, and it gives another link. i check that link.
and what do i find? registration for orientation does not open until march 1.

well. shows you how much attention i give. i still don't know if i'll be able to attend the first one, though. i'd like to, but i'm thinking finals will be those days. either that or they'll be during the second orientation.
damnit. damnity damn damn damn. if only we didn't have to go until june 2nd. damnity damn damn damn.
