It's a many splendored (how do you spell that?) thing!

25 isn't supposed to be old. But I feel old. Mainly because I took a mild hip check at Frisbee yesterday (totally accidental), and it still kinda hurts. That's not supposed to happen. Never mind the fact that my ankles seem to be in perpetual pain, and the right knee appears to be giving out. Ah how I long for the days of being 21 and being able to shake all that off...

In any event, how are you all? Willing to give me free money I assume? What? No? Oh well...

So, I never did respond to my own question, so I can't very well expect many other people to respond. So, here we go:

5. Clark Kent and Lois Lane

This is the one of the first love stories any young boy is introduced to, so it will always hold a special place in the heart of any man. Plus, the geeky kind of guys who likely read comic books can relate to the pretty girl not noticing the geeky, down home naive kinda guy. But you like to believe that the good guys can win. It's not always easy, it's not always pretty, but love endures.

4. Paul and Jamie Buchman. Mad About You

It's nice to know that even crazy people can make it work. Life can be incredibly mundane, but also very very funny, and very very sweet.

3. Keiichi Morisato and Belldandy. Ah! My Goddess!

What list of love stories is complete without a syrupy anime couple. This story is chronicled in various formats, Manga, OVA, Anime and Movie. My favorite is probably the anime, but the premise is always the same, and I love the idea at the heart of it. "I wish for you to be at my side forever."

2. Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson

Going back to the comic books here. Why does this rate above Clark and Lois? Well, slightly more angst and tragedy (Gwen Stacy anyone?), and the Girl Next Door Factor. I know that the creators of the series never intended for these two to be together, but that just goes to show that you can't always predict love.

1. Luthien and Beren. The Silmarillion

So how is this the greatest love story ever told? I could go into the details of the story. But I believe the image above spell out the beauty of this story far better than I ever could.

Honorable Mentions:
Aragorn and Arwen, Lord of the Rings
Urd and Shohei, Ah! My Goddess
Aoi and Kaoru, Ai Yori Aoshi
Inuyasha and Kikyo, Inuyasha
Jesse and Leslie, Bridge to Terebithia
Sun and Jin, Lost
Lucius and Ivy, The Village
San and Ashitaka, Princess Mononoke
Edward and Sandra Bloom, Big Fish

So there you have it. Tell me what you think!

fun times, ultimate
