I'm doing laundry

Aug 10, 2009 22:14

Yes, the Tick would be so happy.  Well actually the laundry is now done, though still needs to be put away, but a thunderstorm kept me from posting at that time.

Looking back at my previous post I was surprised that it hasn't been quite as many months as I thought it had been since last I typed.  Still 3+ months is bad enough and I won't try to fill all the gaps.

It's nice to be working again.  Well, OK, it's nice to be making money again.  The stuff I had been working on had been very frustrating due to a lack of data to effectively be able to do my job most of the time.  For now that project is done with (long story I'll skip for now) and the new project I'm working on is also driving me nuts.  I'm hoping things improve on it shortly but I'd really prefer to work on an entertainment game and have kept an eye on the local studios but currently to no avail.  So even though I've been working I'm not sure if my stress levels have gone down at all.  I'd really like to skip having stress dreams for at least a few months.

Some will be amused to hear that I actually played the piano for 1/2 a service at church a while ago.  It was for an early service so there weren't a lot of people but there were enough.  Our choir director/organist needed to rehearse with some instrumentalists for the later service which is why he needed help.  It should be noted that I don't think I've every played the piano while other people sang with me, at least not in public.  Everything went fine but they had communion during that service and I was so nervous having just finished playing a piece that when they brought the grape juice (we don't do wine) my hands were shaking so much that I was worried I was going throw grape juice everywhere.  Fortunately if didn't happen.

In more recent news I played in a recorder trio yesterday and that too went well.  Of course only playing one note at a time is a bit easier though you have to be careful with the top end of the second octave.

I've been doing a fairly good job getting back to the gym and such.  My weight is back down to just under 165 which is what I had been shooting for.  I'm also seeing definition in my abs which is nice.  I'm also back to doing about 200 lbs on the press but since it's on a machine as opposed to the free weights I used to use it may not quite be the same.  Still, it feels close enough so I'm happy with the way things are going.  I actually made it to my Kenpo class once but then life and depression about work got in the way and I haven't made it back since but hope springs eternal.

I should be heading down to Williamsburg towards the end of September and probably a Disney World trip in January.

Denise is still coming over for anime about once a week which has been fun.  Most recent viewings have been the "Avatar:  The Last Airbender" series which was awesome, "Full Metal Panic" (I think it's called the Second Raid" which was fun and now we're working our way through "Last Exile".

Probably going to hit "G.I. Joe" this week since I've had a number of friends who had a lot of fun with it, then "Julie and Julia" probably next week and "Ponyo on the Cliffs by the Sea" sometime after that.

I hope everyone is having a good summer.  I have to remember Ren Fest is starting up soon.
