... or Pink Cat Hat? Argh!
Tried it on to see what it'd look like after blocking, and found that things were not quite right...
Side seaming. Really, the most important component to this piece is given the least attention. This is supposed to be an easy pattern? I watched 6 or 7 hundred videos in regard on how to do this. As like when I first tried to knit well over a year ago, it ended in abject failure. Ultimately, I decided "So What" and went with something.
I'd later regret this particular decision.
So, what was the ultimate result?
A pink hat with what resembles cat ears. Much as I had envisioned. But what of the side seams?
This is the less uglier of the Frankenstitch monsters. Brace yourself.
Nooooo! (Insert Price Is Right fail music here)
Sew... what did I learn from this entire enterprise?
1 - I can knit something easy in less than a week if I try.
2 - Do not block the ribbing as wide as it can possible go with Malabrigo. It can ruin things.
3 - I need to work more on side seams.
4 - I need to knit this again for myself... in the round! (I know... why learn side seams only to avoid them?)
5 - I need to prioritize what to be anal about versus what not to be anal about. I should not have rushed the side seams.
The Husband feels I should gift ahead as planned. I personally think I could do a better job of this and would scrap this and try again. Or I may just say So What? and give it to her, as her birthday is only a few days away. Whatever happens, this will not go down as my most professional work. At least I'm learning.
