As I write this, CNN hasn't called either Indiana or my former home state of North Carolina. FiveThirtyEight.com gives Indiana to Obama, but still no word on North Carolina.

I'm thrilled for Obama's big win, but will be even more thrilled if he wins my current and former home states!

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a non-same-sex marriage, and you don't want it "protected" by those who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Personally, I'd love for my friends in same-sex relationships to be able to have the same benefits society extends to me and Stephan.

I don't often get political in my journal, because I'd rather use this space to discuss other things. But I'll let these pictures from the Barack Obama rally in downtown Indianapolis today speak for themselves. Stephan and I were stationed just in front of the press cameras, about 30 feet away from the stage.

I'm going to be in the chorus of Verdi's Il Trovatore with Indianapolis Opera. If you click on the link to the opera web page, you can see a picture from the last time we did Il Trovatore in 2001, with Emily Golden as Azucena. I can't believe they killed Tookie Williams. On a purely human level, it is sad, and on a practical level, downright stupid. All this proves is that no matter how much you turn your life around, once you've gone bad, you might as well stay bad, because in the end they will just kill you anyway.
