Stupid ceiling.

Who: Beast Boy and any of the other Titans
When: Middle of the night
Where: Titan's Tower

"OW!"

As he did every morning/middle of the afternoon (depending on whether or not someone was sent to awaken him), Garfield Logan awoke with a start, bashed the top of his head on the ceiling, and flopped back down on his pillow with a rather comical grimace. It was a miracle there wasn't a permanent dent in his forehead, really.

The changeling spent the next few moments wallowing in self-pity as he rubbed his head, glaring indignantly at the ceiling. It was plotting against him, he knew it. Once he was done silently cursing the ceiling to wherever ceilings went off to when they were bad, Gar rolled over onto his side, shifting his glare to the opposite wall.

Normally, after awaking from a bad dream (which usually were only about ninjas/zombies/monkeys/robots/ninja-zombie-robot-monkeys, etc attacking them all or something) Gar could just roll over and go back to sleep. Tonight... well, the nightmares hadn't had anything to do with ninjas or zombies or monkeys or robots. Well, no, technically there were zombies and robots. Slade was sort of a zombie, and he did have a lot of robots.

Raven's return had put them all mostly at ease (Robin had seemed to forget about the whole tranquilizer thing since she'd come back, thank Link and Zelda), but despite that relief, Gar was still secretly unsettled. Slade was officially back. He'd known he was, when he fought off that robot at the fairgrounds upon their return to the city, but now... now Slade was really, really back. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Gar wasn't afraid of him (fleshy human versus big Tyrannosaurus Rex teeth? Yeah. He didn't think so.), but he was afraid of what influence he might have over a certain geomancer friend of his.

He did trust her. He honestly, truly did, even if the others probably thought he was even more crazy because of it. Gar didn't think Terra would ever go back to Slade. No, what he was afraid of was what disruption Slade could cause their team. The distrust and confusion and pointed fingers that were sure to follow. It was the first time they'd had an official Slade-constructed crisis since Terra mysteriously came back, and Gar couldn't help but be a bit apprehensive about the aftermath, and how his friends would deal with it.

The green-skinned Titan grumbled under his breath and shifted onto his other side, then the other a few minutes later. The process continued for several more minutes before Gar finally rolled onto his back with a groan. This wasn't going to work. Carefully avoiding the ceiling, the changeling hopped off the top bunk, shifting into a swallow halfway down. He fluttered gently to the floor before he changed back only long enough to open the door. A forest-green hare then proceeded to hop down the hallways, his nose twitching as he made his way to the main room. Gar shifted back into a human, leaving the lights off. No need to kill his eyes more than they were already about to be killed. He'd left the X-Box already set up, so all he needed to do was sit down, grab a controller, find the remote, and...

The roar of engines and machine guns burst into the room the moment Gar turned on the television. With a squeak of surprise, the changeling immediately began fumbling around for the volume. Frantically, he stabbed the button with his index finger as quickly as he could, but the game still took several seconds to silence itself. Gar stared with wide eyes at the Halo 3 screen, his heart pounding in his chest. He shifted a glance back and forth before he let out another quiet groan, flopping down on the sofa.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
